Pricing, explained honestly

How Much Does a Website Redesign Cost?

Real 2026 price ranges, and what actually moves them

Short answer: a website redesign typically costs from about $2,000 to $50,000+ in 2026. A template refresh sits at the bottom. A strategy-led rebuild with new copy, SEO migration and custom design sits at the top. Most small and service businesses spend $5,000 to $20,000 on a professional redesign of five to fifteen pages.

Website redesign costs in 2026, by what you're buying

  • DIY on a template: $0 to $2,000. Your time plus a theme and a few plugins. Right when the site simply looks old and the message still works.
  • Freelancer redesign: $2,000 to $10,000. Design and build of an existing structure, usually with your copy.
  • Independent studio, strategy-led: $5,000 to $25,000. New structure, conversion copy, custom design and a search foundation.
  • Agency redesign: $25,000 to $75,000. Larger sites, more stakeholders, integrations and formal project management.
  • Enterprise platform rebuild: $75,000+. Hundreds of pages, multiple languages, complex systems.

Key takeaways

  • Price tracks scope: pages, copy, strategy and integrations, not the design alone.
  • A redesign that only changes the look rarely changes the results.
  • SEO migration is the most commonly skipped line item, and the most expensive one to skip.
  • Budget for the costs after launch: hosting, maintenance and content.
  • Anyone quoting before asking what the site must achieve is guessing.

Redesign or refresh? Decide this first

A refresh changes colours, imagery and a few sections on the structure you already have. A redesign rebuilds the message, the page structure, the design and the search foundation around your positioning.

The honest rule: if prospects understand what you do and still don't enquire, a refresh may be enough. If they don't understand what makes you different, a new coat of paint will not fix it. That is a redesign, and often a positioning problem first.

What moves the price

Seven factors explain most of the difference between quotes.

  • Number of pages and templates. Five pages and fifty pages are different projects. CMS templates (blog, case studies, services) count as design work too.
  • Who writes the copy. Conversion copywriting often adds $1,500 to $8,000. It is also the part that most changes enquiry rates.
  • Strategy and positioning. Deciding what the site must make a buyer believe, before any layout, is real work, and the reason one redesign converts and another does not.
  • Custom design vs template. A customised template is cheaper; a custom design fits your brand and your price point.
  • SEO migration. Keyword mapping, redirects, metadata and schema. Skipping it can wipe out rankings you already have.
  • Integrations and functionality. Booking, e-commerce, CRM, memberships, multiple languages: each one adds build and testing time.
  • Timeline. Rush work typically carries a 25 to 50% premium.

Hidden costs to budget for

The quote is rarely the whole bill.

  • Platform and hosting: roughly $200 to $1,000 a year for most small business sites.
  • Photography and imagery: stock is cheap; original photography that makes you look established is not.
  • Content migration: moving old blog posts and pages is tedious and often excluded.
  • Maintenance: updates, fixes and small changes after launch.
  • Lost rankings: the cost of a redesign launched without redirects can outlast the project by months.

What iBrand Identity charges

We publish our prices. Websites are built inside our strategy-led packages, because a new website on an unclear brand only makes the confusion faster:

  • The Brand Growth Alchemy™: from $7,500. Positioning, identity and a five-page Webflow website with conversion copy and a search foundation. About six weeks.
  • The Alchemy Mastery™: from $15,000. The full transformation, with a website of up to twelve pages. Eight to ten weeks.

Every redesign includes a keyword map, titles, meta, heading structure, sitemap, schema and redirects for any URL that moves. The first five clients in each tier receive a 30% founding rate. See how our website redesign service works.

Why the cheapest redesign is often the expensive one

A redesign that only changes the look gives you a nicer version of a site that was not converting. Six months later the enquiries are the same and the question comes back, now with a spent budget.

The useful number is not the cost of the site. It is what one extra client a month is worth to you. For a service business with a $5,000 average project, a site that wins one more client a quarter pays back a $10,000 redesign inside six months.

The cheap end is genuinely right for some situations. If your positioning is clear, your site structure works and it simply looks dated, a refresh on a good template is the sensible choice.

How to budget for a website redesign

  1. Define the job. What should the site make a buyer believe, and what should they do next?
  2. Count the pages and templates you actually need, not the ones you have now.
  3. Decide who writes the copy. If it is you, set the deadline before design starts.
  4. Protect your rankings. Ask every supplier how they handle redirects and metadata.
  5. Add 10 to 15% for imagery, migration and changes you haven't thought of yet.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a website redesign cost for a small business?

Most small businesses spend $5,000 to $20,000 for a professional redesign of five to fifteen pages. Below about $3,000 you are generally buying a template refresh without new strategy or copy.

How long does a website redesign take?

Two to four weeks for a template refresh, about six weeks for a strategy-led five-page site, and eight to twelve weeks or more for larger sites with integrations.

Will a website redesign hurt my SEO?

It can, if URLs change without redirects or metadata is lost. A redesign that includes a keyword map, redirects and technical SEO usually improves rankings rather than hurting them.

Is it cheaper to redesign or build a new website?

On most modern platforms a real redesign is effectively a rebuild. The savings come from reusing what already works: content, imagery and page structure that performs.

How often should you redesign a website?

Every three to five years is common, but the better trigger is change: new positioning, new services, higher prices, or a site that no longer converts.

What should a website redesign quote include?

Pages and templates in scope, who writes the copy, design approach, SEO migration, analytics setup, number of revision rounds, training and post-launch support. If redirects are not mentioned, ask.
